Field evaluations

Field evaluations assess a product or system to the applicable product safety standard(s) for its specific application and location. Inspection of the construction and limited nondestructive testing are part of the process.

A UL Solutions Field Evaluations Label will be immediately applied to the product if the product complies with the applicable requirements. If the product does not meet the requirements, UL Solutions will provide a detailed preliminary findings report citing each issue and applicable standard reference.

Field inspection service for installed equipment and products

Field inspection service provides a solution for installed equipment and products with active UL certification but improper UL Mark labeling. An on-site field inspection conducted by a UL Solutions expert allows such products or equipment to be field-labeled, saving time and costs associated with removal for relabeling.

Factory relocation services

Streamline the various regulatory, compliance and certification challenges related to establishing a new factory with factory relocation services. Our global Field Evaluation team is comprised of technical code experts ready to help you navigate regulatory complexities.

Field-based services for hazardous locations

Our field-based services for hazardous locations (HazLoc) can be performed in the field to help streamline necessary approvals. A UL Solutions Field Evaluations Label will be immediately applied to the product if the product complies with the applicable requirements. If the product does not meet the requirements, UL Solutions will provide a detailed preliminary findings report citing each issue and applicable standard reference.

Fire equipment testing service

We evaluate a variety of equipment for compliance with the requirements of the appropriate National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards and other standards to help support the safety and performance of fire protection equipment.

Firestop special inspection

Demonstrate compliance with International Building Code (IBC) or internal design requirements with UL Solutions’ firestop inspection service which evaluate the proper installation of firestop, fire-resistant joint and perimeter fire containment systems. Section 1705 of the 2012 and later editions of the IBC require special inspection of these systems when installed in high-rise buildings defined as Risk Category III or IV.

Fire door inspection service

Address National Fire Protection Association NFPA requirements with annual on-site fire door inspection services from UL Solutions. Working with us helps facility managers, property owners and other parties mitigate risk, enhance protections of people and property, and demonstrate compliance to code authorities.

Fire barrier management

Minimize risk by leveraging our inspection services for firestopping systems, fire doors and fire dampers. Fire Barrier Management Services support building fire compartmentation with additional training and educational opportunities for system installers. Services include Fire Barrier Management Advisory Services, Firestop Special Inspections, UL Qualified Firestop & SFRM Contractor Programs, and Fire Door NFPA 80 Maintenance inspections.

UL Solutions Qualified SFRM Contractor Program

Contractors can proactively demonstrate commitment to the proper application of Spray-applied Fire Resistive Material (SFRM) as specified in UL Solutions Fire Resistance Designs with our voluntary qualification program. Working with a UL Solutions Qualified SFRM Contractor Program provides confidence that the SFRM has been applied properly.

UL Solutions Qualified Firestop Contractor Program

The UL Solutions Qualified Firestop Contractor Program is voluntary and allows contractors to demonstrate their commitment to the proper installation of firestop systems. A contractor must properly select and install a firestop system to protect penetrations and joints within fire-resistance-rated wall and horizontal assemblies. The building codes require these breaches be protected and the UL Solutions Qualified Firestop Contractor Program denotes contractors providing additional quality assurance.

UL Solutions Lightning Protection Services Program

Lightning protection systems must meet current requirements and be installed correctly to provide optimal protection. UL Solutions examines lightning protection system components and completed installations for compliance with our internationally recognized Standards for lightning protection systems or other recognized national standards. UL Master Label® Certificates are issued for structures that fully comply with the selected standard.
